Pastor Suzanne launched our new sermon series called, “The Good News about the Good News.”
She talked about how “sharing the gospel” or evangelism has often been misconstrued or misunderstood by some as trying to scare people into avoiding hell or manipulating people into saying a certain prayer or believing a certain set of things.
In this series, we are going to reimagine what it means to share the good news:
Mission isn’t fueled pressure but joy
Participating in the kingdom isn’t fear but freedom
Interacting with the world isn’t about manipulation but love
Our job is not to save anyone, but to live in a way that models God’s kingdom.
Reflection Questions:
Have you ever been on the side of someone trying to “evangelize” you? What was that like?
How have you been taught about evangelism? What was good or exciting about that? What felt bad on produced anxiety for you?
What has actually felt like Good News to you about the Gospel of Jesus?
