Easter Treasure Hunt for Children and Families

Join us for The Easter Treasure Hunt, a fun and meaningful way for children and families to experience the true story of Easter!

What to Expect:

Easter Storybook Walk – Stroll through our outdoor path and follow the story of Easter Morning!

Self-Guided Egg Hunt – No mad dashes or missing out—kids of all ages can explore and collect color-coded eggs with special treasures inside them at their own pace!

Continental Breakfast & Crafts – Enjoy a light breakfast while kids create Easter-themed crafts to take home.

Come and go as needed! This free event is open to the community.

Be a Part of The Easter Treasure Hunt – Volunteer Today! Here’s how you can get involved:

Serve on Event Day (April 19, 8:30–11:30 AM) – Volunteers are needed for activity tables, kitchen prep, the outdoor egg hunt, and hospitality.

Donate Homemade Muffins – Share some homemade goodness by baking muffins for our continental breakfast! Drop them off at church by Saturday, April 19 at 8:00 AM.

Other ways to help!

Donate Easter Candy – Bring individually wrapped candy and place it in the donation bin by the main desk in the lobby by April 8. Small, fun-sized candy works best!

Egg-Stuffing Party (April 9, 10:30 AM–Noon) – We need helping hands to fill 1,500 Easter eggs!

Johnston Family Fest

Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025

Location: Johnston Town Center (outside on the lawn) 6245 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, Ia. 

Join The Bridge Kids Ministry at Johnston Family Fest for a day of fun for the whole family! The Johnston Town Center will host various activities for families to enjoy! The Bridge Kids Ministry is excited to partner with the City of Johnston to provide a family-friendly booth for kids to plant seeds! We hope to see you there!

*Overflow parking will be available across the street at Lawson Elementary School.

Student Registration-True North VBS Date: June 23-26 (Mon-Thurs)

Time: 9:30-11:45 AM

Location: The Bridge, 10025 NW 62nd Ave., Johnston, IA

Ages: For children ages 4 years old (by 9/15/25) through Fall 2025 6th graders. *Students going into 7th grade or older are welcome to register as a VBS helper.

FREE for all children 

At True North VBS, kids will be pointed straight to Jesus through games, music, crafts, and more. Kids will learn foundational truths of the Bible as they trek the mountains and explore God’s world!

Volunteer for True North VBS

Help kids discover the ultimate adventure—following Jesus! True North VBS is coming June 23-26, 2025, and we need an incredible team of volunteers to make it happen. Check out how to plug in!

Crew Leaders – Guide a small group of kids through each station, building relationships and pointing them to Jesus.
Music Team – Lead high-energy worship and help kids engage with fun, faith-filled songs.
Hospitality & Check-In Team – Welcome families, assist with registration, and create a warm, inviting environment.
Set-Up & Decor Team – Transform our space into an Alaskan adventure with creative decorations and hands-on help.

Donate Snacks for VBS

We love snacks! Are you able to help fill hungry tummies for our VBS snack time? There are lots of different items to purchase and donate! 

*Please deliver all snacks (except bananas) by Sunday, June 15 to The Bridge kitchen. This will give our staff enough time to organize donations and purchase any remaining items still needed.

**Deliver bananas to the church kitchen by Sunday, June 22. Bananas need to be ripe, but not over ripe as we will use them on Tuesday the week of VBS.

Foam Frenzy for Families

Date: Friday, June 27, 2025
Time: 6:00-8:00 PM
Location: The Bridge, 10025 NW 62nd Ave., Johnston, IA (Back Lawn)
Cost: FREE and open to the community—no registration needed!

Get ready for an unforgettable night of foamy, splashy fun! Bring the whole family for an evening filled with laughter, water play, and sweet treats.

Here's what to expect:

Giant Foam Party – Dive into a mountain of bubbles and let the fun begin!
Slip & Slides – Race down refreshing slides for nonstop excitement.
Ice Cream Bars – Cool off with a sweet frozen treat, on us!
Picnic-Friendly Fun – Bring your own meal or grab takeout and enjoy dinner on the lawn.

What to Bring: Your own food if you so choose, picnic blankets or lawn chairs, sandals/water shoes, and towels!
Parental supervision required.

Servants of the Day - Mission Project

Date: Monday, July 14

Time: 9:00 AM-4:00PM

Location: Start at The Bridge – We will travel throughout the day and return by 4:00 pm.

Ages:  Fall 2025 5th and 6th graders

Free -  Bring your own  sack lunch!

This is an excellent one-day mission trip in our very own city! This opportunity is geared for upcoming Fall 2025 5th and 6th graders to experience serving others in age-appropriate ways. 

What to expect...

• Visit Methodist Hospital to learn from the Unity Point Life Flight Team and get an up-close tour of the Life Flight helicopter.  
• Visit the Animal Rescue League to read to shelter dogs and learn more about caring for animals.
• Visit the Brio Care Center in Johnston to spend time playing games and visiting with residents who need extra company.

Family Movie Night

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a live-action movie based on the classic children's book by Barbara Robinson, where a group of mischievous, troublemaker siblings called the Herdmans disrupt a small town's annual Christmas pageant by taking over the lead roles, ultimately teaching the community about the true meaning of Christmas through their chaotic, yet heartfelt performance. Church-wide BBQ and Beach Bash

Date: Sunday, July 20, 2025

Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Location: Big Creek Beach - Beach Shelter #1 (far NW corner of the beach lawn nearest the Marina. The farther you drive into the parking lot the closer you will be to the shelter house! 

Join us for a church-wide BBQ and day at the beach for great food and lake adventures. The Bridge will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dessert, and water for lunch. Guests are welcome to stay and enjoy some fun in the sun on the beach as long as they would like to. Bring along your own beach gear, water games, snacks, etc.
